Support

Help with Sober Tracker.

A real person reads every message. There is no help desk, no ticket queue, no chatbot — just the developer, Tilak Shakya. Email is the fastest way to get a reply.

Email support

For anything at all — bug reports, feature requests, refund questions, accessibility issues, account-deletion requests, or just a kind note — write to support@sobertracker.co.

Replies typically come back within 1–2 business days. The app is maintained by one person, so weekends and travel can stretch that a little.

What to include in a bug report

A few details up front save a round-trip and get your fix faster:

  • Device and OS: e.g. "iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18.2" or "Pixel 8, Android 15".
  • App version: find it in the app under Settings → About.
  • What you did: the exact steps that led to the bug.
  • What you expected vs. what happened: one sentence each is enough.
  • Screenshot or screen recording: if the problem is visual, a quick screenshot helps.

Account deletion

Sober Tracker has no accounts to delete because the app never creates one. There is no signup, no login, no email gating, and no server-side profile. Your streak, journal, garden, mood logs, and savings all live in a local database on your device.

To delete all of your Sober Tracker data, uninstall the app. iOS and Android both remove the local database when you delete the app. If you want a fresh start while keeping the app installed, open Settings → Reset data inside the app and confirm.

If you would still like written confirmation that no server-side record of you exists, email us — we will reply with a one-line statement you can keep.

Subscriptions and refunds

Sober Tracker is free to start. The recovery tools — counter, journal, garden, achievements, insights, and health timeline — are not paywalled. Premium adds plant types, themes, and power tools.

Subscriptions are billed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android), not by us. Manage or cancel any subscription directly:

  • iOS: open the App Store → tap your profile picture → Subscriptions → Sober Tracker → Cancel Subscription.
  • Android: open Google Play → tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptionsSubscriptions → Sober Tracker → Cancel subscription.
  • Refunds: Apple handles refunds via reportaproblem.apple.com. Google handles refunds via play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory. If either store declines and you have a fair reason, email us and we will go to bat for you.

Common questions

A lot of the standard questions are answered on the home page FAQ — what happens to your body when you stop drinking, how the garden works, what counts as a lapse vs. a relapse, whether non-alcoholic beer is OK, and so on.

Two questions that come up often enough to call out here:

  • "I lost my data when I switched phones." Because nothing is in the cloud, the data lives on the old phone. If you still have access to it, you can manually transfer using iCloud/Google backup before deleting the app. We are working on a private export/import feature for a future version.
  • "Can you read what I wrote in my journal?" No. We have no server, no analytics SDK, and no way to reach the content of your device. We could not read it even if we wanted to.

Crisis support

Sober Tracker is a tracking tool, not a substitute for medical or crisis care. If you are in danger, in immediate withdrawal, or considering self-harm, please reach a human now:

  • United States: 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) · SAMHSA National Helpline 1-800-662-4357.
  • United Kingdom: Samaritans 116 123 · NHS 111.
  • International: findahelpline.com lists vetted crisis lines in 130+ countries.
  • Always: your local emergency number (911, 999, 112, etc.) for medical emergencies including severe alcohol withdrawal.

Legal and privacy

The full data policy is in the Privacy Policy. The terms of use, including the medical disclaimer for alcohol withdrawal, are in the Terms of Service. More about who built the app and why is on the About page.
